STEPHEN ANDREWS

At the age of 9, I already knew I wanted to be a photographer.  I was lucky enough to have a father who had worked as a Fleet Street photographer in the 1960s.  Over the years he taught me the importance of  light, composition and  story telling.  I shot everything all the time when I was growing up, especially friends, many of whom were musicians, and all of whom were characters.

I studied Photography at Nottingham Trent, and then spent 12 years working as a Photographer, Director of Photography and Camera Assistant in the film industry.



 As well as being a freelance photographer, I am currently Head of Photography at a Surrey Sixth Form College.  Seeing basic photographic skills develop into creatively beautiful images and the photographers of tomorrow finding their feet is incredibly humbling and exciting.



Capturing a moment that tells a story is the challenge that I find so fascinating and one that keeps me loving what I am lucky enough to be doing.
